This is my little corner of the sea, Henley Square, where I grew up, and 10 minutes away from where I live now.

This is where I would find my Dad after a trying day, right at the end of the jetty. When I was 16, there was a day where I escaped from home, needing desperately to be free, walked down to Henley Square, down to the end of the jetty…and there was my Dad. Similar minds, similar personalities…similar introverting traits!

This little pocket of the earth has been my comfort and inspiration so many times over; the place I go when I need to be recreated and soothed, set alight and renewed.

People flock to this beach during summer, and I love its pure, almost-white stretches of sand and azure blue sheets of sea at that time of year. But I love it during all seasons.

I love it dearly when it is changing and moody, grey with thought; I love it when it is so relentlessly stormy that I cannot walk three steps without salt and sand being spat into my face. And I love it in all its orange evening glory, shining jewel-bright, and sea like silver mercury, breathing and alive.

I love that it has seasons, like me, and it is always moving and changing.

This, my beautiful corner of the sea.
